My Okanogan county cougar
« on: January 21, 2013, 06:05:20 PM »
I nailed this big cat over the weekend.  We went out looking for yotes and ended up with this tom.  We set up and started predator calling and a few minutes and I see some movement in the rocks about 250 yards away.  The cat saw us at the same time and he was off to the races.  I had a hurried shot while he was on the run.  Hit him in the hind quarters blowing right on through.  I could tell he was hit good as I spun him around. He disappeared In the rocks and couldn't see him.  It was steep and around three feet of snow and took us a good hour or more to get up to where I hit him.  Blood was all over..  we followed the blood trail it seemed like he was just walking in circles.  I go out on a rock out cropping and look down around 40 yards or so and see the cat down the hill from us.  His ears were pinned back looking at us.  I put the smack down on him.  It was a cool feeling to finally fill a cougar tag after 21 years of hunting.  Thanks guys for all your help and being a part of my hunt.

Cougar blackstrap is awesome. My brother got lucky and got a big cat in 2007 and it was one of the best meats I have ever had.
