After Western Washington legislators extolled the value of wolf packs in Eastern Washington, Rep. Joel Kretz decided that he would assist in the efforts to make relocating wolf packs to Western Washington easier through legislation this year. House Bill 1258 would remove barriers, both natural and regulatory, to the relocation of wolves from around the state to Western Washington locations, such as the Olympic Peninsula and San Juan Islands.

Why would it pass? The WDFW isn't in the business of moving wolves from one place to another. The wolves can do that just fine on their own.

I'm surprised anyone would want our tax dollars spent on increasing the wolf population in this state. In my opinion one wolf in this state is one too many.

Thankfully wolves haven't shown up here on the west side of the state- yet. With any luck, they won't EVER find their way here.

Yeah Because us eastsiders have to deal with the wolves and protecting our elk deer and moose.  Just Remember pick out the big coyote without the Collar!

Not only will they not embrace it, I am willing to bet they won't give it 10 minutes thought.

It's all in the packaging. Kretz needs to find a liberal wolf lover to co-sponser the legislation. If translocating wolves could save the life of just one wolf! Bla Bla Bla!
And we could have our own Yellowstone park on Orcas island! Just imagine the tourism opportunity! People would flock to the island for the chance to see wolves! And there are too many deer of the island anyway, destroying the environment Bla Bla Bla!

  I can't believe that any hunter would actually want the wolves to migrate on their own.  We have already seen that by the time there is enough on the westside to meet the quota required in the wolf plan that the eastside will be horribly overwhelmed with wolf packs.  At this point and the population explosion we are seeing in the Northeast region there should be 50 plus packs before they can be delisted.  As I remember there have to be this crazy 15 pack number for 3 years before they can be delisted.  Even if we only had 15 packs with their average population increase we will have 45 packs when the 3 years is up.  Counting a natural migration to the westside is totally ridiculous if we want to give an even distribution as the wolf plan outlines.  It's very clear that the wolf supporters want to create havock and misery to the eastside livestock owners.

The hunters don't want natural migration. The pro-wolf people do. That way they can put hunters out of business.
