My rifle only has one sling stud on it and I would like the option of a bipod or rifle mounted shooting sticks. . .how far away from the first swivel stud should the second stud be mounted???

and how do I do it??? I'm sure it isn't rocket science, but do I need to drill a hole, drill a pilot hole. . .do I need to anchor it in place with some sort of adhesive/epoxy???

Thanks!!!
Joel

One stud is all you need with harris bipods, you attach the bipod to the stud and the sling to the bipod. Not sure about other makes but I expect they are the same.

Gutpile is right, they all have the stud on the bipod. Attach bipod first then attach sling to bipod.

I have always done it that way, until now. The VTR has two studs(2" apart). It actually makes it really convenient to pop the bipod of and on without having to mess with sling. Its a pretty good idea. As far as how to install a stud I cant help you there.

I 'm guessing just like you thought, drill a small pilot and use a bit of epoxy on the thread. Hopefully someone on here wil help ya out.

Like others have said...just get a harris and you won't need a second stud.  :twocents:

What others said about Harris.  Makes the rifle lay back more.  If you want another stud simple set it lower to clear your bipod.  I would use the bolt style instead of wood screw.  Too much pressure up front compared to rear.  Use thin/flat washers and nut after enough relief to clear barrel.  Much stronger and won't pull out.  Uncle mikes makes a lot of different versions just find the one that fits best for your stock.
