Remington 11-87 not feeding shells

Ive put probably around 5-600 shells though this gun since i bought it a a couple years ago and never had a problem till this last weekend. I will load one round into the chamber and two into the plug. I pull up and fire the first shot and the bolt stays locked back like im out of shells. There are still two in the plug, and It wont feed any new shells? Any ideas? Or a local gun shop around Maple Valley/Kent??

I had a similar problem with mine. I also experienced the shells having gouges down the side. The extractors needed replacing. You should take out the spring in the magazine to remove the shells and take it to a gunsmith. It's a fairly easy fix. Have him replace all of your springs at the same time - cheap to do.

Clean it really  well, meaning take everything apart, wipe down, oil, wipe oil off. Put it back together. If still wont work have a smith look at it, if he cant fix it buy a benelli

Remington shotguns have a spring steel cartridge stop at each side of the receiver.  One retracts to let a shell come out of the magazine tube into the loading mechanism, and one stops the next shell from coming out until the action is cycled again.  Over time they get worn or bent.  Best fix is to have a gunsmith replace them.  The new parts should be staked into the receiver grooves with a tool  that is made specifically for the job.  Chances are that the parts got bent out of shape when the gun was disassembled for cleaning, and then reassembled without pushing the parts out of the way to get the bolt assembly back into the reciever.

Bingo!!!  Often over looked when cleaning too.  I'd give them a good blasting with gunscrubber or other action cleaner first.  See if that does the trick.  Either way it's a cheap and easy fix for a smith.

I realize this is old, but I am having the same issue.  I'm trying to find what the problem is and the solution outside of just taking it to a gunsmith.  Mine will not feed from the magazine when the gun is fired.  It will not feed from the magazine at al unless the trigger is pulled.   At times I have to dry fire, manually cycle bolt, dump out live shell, dry fire etc. to clear the magazine. 

It fails to feed while firing easily 80-90 percent of the time.  It is not a cleaning issue as it is spotless and well oiled.  The extractor and ejector work flawlessly. It seems like some part moves when the trigger is pulled that causes the bolt to push the shell catch tot he side allowing feeding.  On dry fire due to no recoil it works as designed.  I'm guess the recoil is causing a delay or some interruption in this mechanical process.   

Shell catch is not bent and looks like other 11-87's I have compared it to.

Does anyone know what the problem is?
