Back from my high hunt
« on: September 20, 2008, 09:08:59 PM »
Went to the alpine lakes wilderness. Hiked in late sunday night with a horse packing some gear. 13 miles in! got there at 2:30

Hiked 5 or six miles a day for the next 5 days and only ended up seeing 3 deer. The full moon and 85 degree weather really was hard to deal with. Saw NO ONE the entire hunt except on the trip in and out.

Between four of us we got 0 deer but 2 black bears including a cinnamon. Saw more goats than deer including a very  nice one.

Caught some 20 inch cutthroat... Im very sore and tired but the trip was very fun. Eating fresh fish and drinking out of a glacier fed creek. Next year I will have to be in better shape and hopefully different weather! Probably hiked 50+ miles during the 6 days i was up there.

Probably post sum pictures later.

I'll second that.  At least you didn't get sick and hurt.  Good job on those bears.  That must have been just a little bit fun.  Did you get some photos that you can share with this sicko?

Nice bear, looks like he shot the sh...t out of it  :chuckle:
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

well it is kinda small but it has really pretty color. It will make a nice little rug. I has a blonde strip that runs down it's back to the tail.
