Yes, Poodles make outstanding bird dogs.  It is what they were originally bred for!
Gentleman on right is former NFL tight end Kent Kramer who played for the 49'er, Saints, Eagles and Vikings.  He thought I was joking when I first brought the boy out!!!
He and some of his other NFL friends have been hunting over Chase now for 4 years.  So much for the tough gut image.  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Great looking dog, and happy too.  Great to see a dog doing what it was bred to do.  Do you ever go to the Portvan pointing dog fun trials?  If not, you should go.  Lots of great guys there, and they would all enjoy seeing your poodle in action, myself included (I've been a member for a long time, even though I moved and live in Tacoma now).  I still drive south for the trials at Vancouver Lake.

I probably would have laughed if I seen a poodle out hunting   :chuckle:  but judging by the pic it sure looks like that's a bird dog there

Richard, We're gonna have to get together for next season and work on our local Mr. Clint Didier and my hometown Monroe boy Smiley Creswell to join in? I've worked with Clint on quite a few of his construction projects and Smiley was my football coach for a spell....

Nice. I'm reading more and more from trainers who say Poodles are actually easier to train than labs these days and are every bit as effective in the water and the field. There must be something to it given that more and more are coming away with hunt test titles.

My dad used to duck hunt in the 80's and I don't think he's ever gotten over how a poodle with bows tied to it's ears effectively shamed the chessies and labs on the water one day.

I still like this video
