Reminds me of the time years ago, when the lot that my house sits on now was grass, and a neighbor's dog used it as his morning bathroom.  One morning I saw him out there getting ready to do his thing.  I grabbed my slingshot, and a couple of marbles, and eased out the back door and saw him dropping a deuce.  I drew back on the slingshot and watched as the marble arched towards the dog, and hit him between the eyes.  It must have watered his eyes, because instead of running out of the driveway, he ran smack into the gate, which had wire fence fabric attached to it.  He bounced back, tumbling over bacwards, picked himself up, and ran out of the driveway.  He never came back into my yard again.  Even now, more than 30 years since, I still chuckle when I remember that poor guy running into the gate....  :chuckle:
can you still buy slingshots or did they ban them too??? i had one and not sure were it went had it since i was about 10

Mixed emotions,   I'm old enough to remember when everyone had a dog and nobody owned a leash and neighbors still got along.  It was just part of life and no big deal.

Times have changed...................people too.........................but, not dogs. :chuckle:
I agree. I remember "back in the day" (I'm really dating myself here) everyone had a dog, they all ran loose and as far as I could remember, nobody complained. But today, not so much :nono:

probably because back in the day people cleaned up after their dogs.   :)  I love dogs, and I hate keeping my dogs on a leash. I always clean up after my dog right away. especially in my yard.  pisses me off when other people let their dog crap in my yard.   :bash:

 :yeah:

Or kill your animals.  Had a neighbor who's dog killed over twenty of my chickens in a two year period (never saw a dime of his promised compensation), the last straw was when I followed the trail of carcasses to their house and they weren't even home.  They had left the dog loose for the weekend.   >:(   Sadly, the dog ran away and was never seen again.

My current neighbor leaves for a week or more at a time and leaves her dog loose (my boy feeds it for her).  Luckily for this dog, it does not chase chickens.  She had the nerve to ask me if I would bury my deer bones beccause her dog kept bringing bones home.  I trapped it a few days later in my carport.  I returned it to her by leaving the dog in the trap in her driveway.  When she returned the trap, I showed her where the bones were dumped, which was in the center of my 5 acres.  She hasn't complained about the thing dragging bones home anymore.   :chuckle:

Yes, you can still buy them.  The best ones are the "Wrist Rocket" types that have the loop that goes over the wrist.  You can really pull back on them to get a lot of power.  I had one for years, and when the surgical-tubing got old and brittle, I just bought a new one.  Most of them come with a bunch of steel shot, but you can kill a small animal or injure a large one with that stuff, so I just buy a bag of marbles for ammo.  They hit hard enough to sting, but don't penetrate the skin.  I've used it often to educate barking neighbor dogs.  A zap in the butt with a marble followed by a loud, firm "Be Quiet!" does the trick.  Rarely takes more than one lesson.  :chuckle:

Most likely, yes--I've never used one to kill anything, but from what I've read, the steel shot (ball bearings) is deadly, and not to be used if you don't want to kill or injure something.  Hence, the marbles.  Aerodynamic enough to be accurate, but light enough to dissipate the energy rapidly.  More to scare than hurt an animal.  Shows them that you CAN reach out and touch them!  :chuckle:
