New Bow

Well, I just bit the bullet and ordered a Diamond Archery Outlaw setup.  I was debating between that and the Bear Encounter setup.  But the Bowtech/Diamond 15% off of MSRP for vets/active duty won me over.  I've been wanting to give Archery a try for a while.  Now I need to learn how to shoot one.  I hope it will be a fun learning experience.

Yep...any modern bow will do the job.

I got it off of Huntersfriend.com.  It comes with a hard case, release, and 6 arrows for $50 more.  I've heard the arrows are kind of cheap but since I plan on practicing a while before cranking up the draw weight, I didn't want to buy good ones and then not use them later.  Any suggestions from people for arrows once I get the draw weight up to 70?

I shoot Easton Axis and Beman ICS Hunter's and haven't had any issues.

Did you have your draw length measured before you purchased the bow?

A friend of mine helped me measure my draw pull.  I realize it could be off but at least it's easier these days to adjust draw length. 

I was originally planning on going down to High Mountain and getting the Bear Encounter they had in the shop (I'm a lefty).  I went home to think about it for the night and realized that the same bow in High Mountain for $599 was shipped for $399 from everywhere else (ie, Cabelas, bass Pro, etc.).  I would have really liked their help to get the bow all tuned up and a quick intro lesson to archery but I'm just not going to pay 50% more for it.

Congrats on the new bow. I picked up my first bow and started shooting about 8 months ago and love it.
