for my hunting rifle i just sent about 5 rounds down, cleaned, and repeated. now every 10-15 rounds i'll clean it. it shoots about 1/2MOA so that's good enough for a hunting rifle. my sako trg i read a lot on the subject and it sounds like most guys just say go shoot it. so that's what i did. sighted in the scope and cleaned it. shot it a little more working with reloads and cleaned it again. accuracy improved greatly after the first cleaning. I don't think you need to get too OCD about breaking in your barrel. but i'd recommend cleaning it 2-3 times between 25 rounds. I am in no way an expert...just my  :twocents:

Ruining the crown is the major issue I have heard about, poor cleaning causes problems

this is also an issure i have heard. the barrel for the most part won't alter...it's the entrance/exit that are important.

Another interesting article:

http://www.snipercountry.com/articles/barrel_breakin_II.asp

I've got a new Remington 700 sitting on the rest waiting to get sighted in and I'm debating if/how to break the barrel in.  I'll clean it before I shoot for the first time and then clean it after about 20-25 rounds or after it's sighted in, whichever comes first.

I've heard of cleaning after every shot for X amount of shots to properly "break-in" a barrel but that sounds a bit ridiculous to me...
