Mountain lion catch and release

I wonder how the cougar is gonna survive with that stick around it's neck

Pretty sure those sticks are designed to release....the wire pulls out and the animal can get loose.

The snare stick will fall off as the handle end of the cable is not locked tight.

snared around the waist....yikes.  That is a lucky cat, but I'm not sure why they had the damn dogs there adding to the stress of the whole thing.

Probably to encourage the cat to go the other direction, looks like they did a good job of releasing the cat to me.

Ya- if it lived it was a good release.  Better than chemical immobilization.  It's dicey with cats.

I would not want to attempt that on my house cat.  Bet the Heart rates were in high gear.

It likely fell off in a short run after camera view. Once released from the trap, with the intent of letting the cat go, untranked... I'd have let go of the snare too. Bigger cohoney's to take time to slip that snare would have been a waste.
