We seen a cow and a calf Friday night around midnight, 7 miles from the turn at Pateros right before black canyon creek on our way to Winthrop. They were laying in a field right next to the road and got up and walked away when we stopped to look at them. I have never seen them that low in the valley all though I have heard of them down that way.

Those moose won't last long. Wolves love elk more than deer but absolutely crave moose.  Yellowstone can not confirm for sure if they have a single moose left.  Say goodbye to the Teanaway moose.

Washington State Dept. of Fish and No Game

I have to agree, the moose up there will be easy pickings to  predators  as the snow drives them down, deer numbers have already dropped to as low as I have ever seen, when the food supply runs out the wolfs will move on, next stop the Joe Watt.
