Just don't confuse a stabilizer with a vibration dampener. A lot of what is being sold as stabilizer these days would be better classified as a dampener. Not that a dampener is a bad thing, in fact it is a good thing, just different.
Think twitching a "Rock on a stick". Easy to do until the stick gets some length.
I'd say anything less than 8 inches tends to fall into the dampener category. They also tend to be loaded with anti-vibration features.
I'd also say that with current short limb, short stroke, parallel limb designs, anti-vibe might be more interesting than stabilization...
