Tent dilema
« on: January 30, 2013, 08:44:07 AM »
Going to drop the coin on a light weight tent and have been contemplating either the Six Moon 'Lunar Duo' or Tarp Tent 'Rainshadow 2'.

The Tarp Tent is a 3- person that is 41-42 oz. with minimal vestibule for gear (not an issue since there is more interior room). Single entry, and utilizes trekking poles.  The tent is made in the USA (wow that is a rarity!).

The Six Moon is a 2-person at 41-42 oz. , with decent vestibules.  two doors/vestibules, and utilizes trekking poles.  The tent is made in the industrial annex of the USA - aka China.

There are issues with both, for instance:
- the TT has a longer tent pole 18-24", whereas, the SM has 12-16".  Small difference, but when backpacking it comes down to inches and ounces!
- the SM is made in China...CHINA.  They are out of Oregon and have cool stuff, and when asked they replied due to demand they had to outsource to China.  Mentality pisses me off.  But biggest concern is quality.  There are good reviews, however, these are based on tents fabricated here not 'there'.

I know of Tarptent cause a few people have posted about them, however, does anyone have a review on Six Moon?
