Multiregion Elk versus Multiseason/weapon
« on: February 05, 2013, 11:38:54 AM »
I am putting in for multiseason elk this year again in hopes of getting to hunt both sides of the mountain.  If I draw I will probably only hunt with a bow, maybe some with a muzzleloader.  There are so many tags to put in for and you only get two quality choices.  I would rather have the option for multiregion( east and west) with the same weapon.  If you get drawn you can put in and hunt both east and west but have to choose only one weapon.  You would have to choose the weapon that you would be hunting with when you apply versus after you draw.

This way I wouldn't be so torn as to which permit to put in for and wouldn't have to spend all the cash to hunt three different weapons, gas and gear are expensive, not to mention the time off work.

Anyone else think this would be good or are there cons to this that I am missing.

I like that idea but problem is that its all about the $$$$.  WDFW knows they can charge $182 for the tag b/c it includes all 3 weapon options.
Take up your bow, a quiver full of arrows, head out to the country and hunt some wild game.  GEN 27:3

I hadn't thought of what the charge for that would be, it should be less because you have less options to hunt.  If given the option I would buy the multiregion over the multiseason.  The application fee would be the same and I think that is where they make the most money.  My guess is they have someone on staff that would be able to tell them what the average hunter would be willing to pay.  If the dollar amount is too low, they would certainly increase it the next year like they did with the "second deer tag".

For me my prefrerence is to hunt both sides of the state rather than all of the weapon types.  Are most people putting in for multi season so they can hunt all weapons or both sides of the state?  The question really only applies to elk hunting.
