I am going  be moving to the Olympia area within the next few months. I was wonder where does everyone shoot around there. I am going to be looking for a place that has enough room to at least get 30 yards. but come hunting season I like to practice out past 60 yards. I also am aware that if I am in city limits you can't legally shoot any how.

Just east of Littlerock there is the Capital Forest.  Off of Waddell Creek Rd there is a Sand Pit.  I am a member at the Capital City Pistol and Rifle club also near Littlerock, WA.  Littlerock is about 8-10 miles south of Olympia/Tumwater.  The dues are $150.00 a year and simple but nice covered ranges to shoot all year long.  Some areas of Capital Forest get closed to shooting at various times due to logging but it is usually well posted and there is enough land to find another suitable spot.

Plenty of room for that in Capitol Forest.

Seems like you could go out by Vail (off of Johnson Crk Rd or Thompson Crk Rd) on Weyerhauser land and fling some arrows.  Or maybe out at the pheasant release site down at Skookumchuck.  It may be a little closer to Yelm than Capitol Forest.

The pit they're talking about up in Capitol State Forest is called the triangle pit.  You can buy a real nice map of the State Forest at the US Forest Service Building on Black Lake Blvd. and it's well worth having.  The other place you need to be aware of is the Cedar Creek Corrections Center that's up there.  They tend to frown on shooting around there.

I sure wouldn't go to the Triangle Pit to shoot a bow. 

Heck I won't even go there to shoot a gun. But for archery, I'd find a secluded, quiet spot out in the woods, and enjoy the peace and quiet.

You won't get any of that at the pit!

I am standing here with my right hand on my forehead in the shape of an L.  Sorry I didn't realize you were archery.  You can send me a PM and I can take you my range.  Simple range but has targets all the way out to 80-90 yards.  nice and dry cover to shoot under.  there is a nice field target archery range there also.  I am having rotator cuff surgery in March so I will be recovered in time for Archery season in September.

If I was in Olympia area I would join Capitol City Bowman in Littlerock. One of the best clubs in the state.
