It Looks Like Someone Harvested Some Cougars

There were 3 seperate hunters.   They set up two outside the culvert and one come in the backside and flushed them out.  Two were shot as they came out and one stayed in at the entreyway and the flusher shot it as he came into view.  All perfectly legit.  That area has been overpopulated the last yr. with several cougars killing livestock, pets and sleeping under peoples porches.  Some have been dispatched already by WDFW for being problems.  Some reduction in the population was very badly needed.  Another 3 or 4 would be prudent to remove except the quota has been filled so season is closed. 
  If you had 3 legal bucks standing on the hill and 3 licensed hunters wouldn't you all 3 shoot one if you could?  Absolutely!   If not then which one of you throws his tag away for the year?

I am just saying if it was me ...As long as it was legal I can not say much  That takes some halls to crawl in a pipe with 3 cougars  I know ther are alot of cougars in that area but would you rather see cougars or wolves ? I will take the cougars over a wolf any day as far as the predator that has to be roaming the hills of Washington

Cool picture!  What the heck kind of guns did they use? Does anyone recognize the guns on the left and the right?

Sharps replicas I believe in 45-70 govt blackpowder cartridges.The guy on the right has always been into the primitive weapons,fact is he shot a mountain goat with a recurve.He actually was instrumental in helping me out with info for my mountain goat hunt in 1994.Oh yeah he's crazy too,my guess he was the flusher.

I'm with you bowhunter.  How is a 75 lb cougar any kind of trophy?  If you want more deer, kill a coyote or support some habitat projects.  I hate hearing all these people using lions as a scapegoat for other problems.

It would be a trophy to me.

Seems to me it's kinda hard to be choosy unless you're hunting with hounds, I think I'd take whatever I can get, if the opportunity ever presents itself.

Especially considering that I've never even seen a cougar in this state.

I know that a trophy is an individual thing, but a 75 lb cat is not all that impressive...it would be like a button buck.  I would rather see a lion in the woods than a deer any day.  Proper habitat management could alleviate the deer population problems so that predators were not such a scapegoat for game numbers.

Those fellow hunters did the right thing for the deer population , and the rest of us who like to deer hunt! 

Those cats are not babies by any means.
