There was a couple of feet of snow.  No damage to the hide.

There was no way for me to throw mine over my shoulder and pack it out of a canyon. It took all I could do to just lift it into my vehicle. By the way, it made a great rug.

I know a guy who lives over that away that has a picture on facebook of him,his daughter and another young fellow with 3 dead cougars and three hunters with three guns,don't know if it's related to this tresspassing incident or not but the guy has always been a by the book hunter.

I say congratulatioons to the hunters and hope they are cleared and can keep their trophies.   The picture is one for the grandkids to cherish. I agree with whoever said size does not matter. The smaller ones would fit better in my house and my pocketbook. I've hunted many many hours in that area and shot my first deer up there.  The picture is beautiful with the three in the snow. Awesome!!

I have no problem that they killed three cougars. I do have a problem with them tresspassing. I also have a problem with killing collared cats. How much time energy and OUR money did WDFW spend to collar those cats? And now to collar 2 new ones?  Seems like a waste of resources to me.

Seems to me it's kinda hard to be choosy unless you're hunting with hounds, I think I'd take whatever I can get, if the opportunity ever presents itself.

But everyone wants wolves to repopulate the state? I dont get that.

Like I said earlier... i would rather have cougars in the hills rather than a dang wolf ..at least a cougar eats what he kills .. a wolf will kill just to kill , take a few bites and move on ...thats the problem I have with wolves !

The statement of having a problem with killing collared cats makes for good conversation, but if you had been in my shoes you would have done the same thing. It was only 30 feet from me and closing in. The money and resources would have been the furthest things from your mind. The game dept. also said that there was nothing wrong with it when I checked with them.

 Without hounds to look the cat over one can not tell if they have a collar or not.  You have a split second to get a shot.  You've been hunting your whole life for a lion and you get a chance to shoot one.  Bang!   If the WDFW doesn't want collared cats shot.  Very simple, Don't collar them.
