different wolf tracks. WDFW biologist says the one on the right is the smaller wolf. They are getting closer all the time to us and more frequently passing through.

Have you laid eyes on them yet, Landowner?

They move back and forth between OR and WA... They have become more prevalent each year as we all know.

About 18 months ago saw a loner as it headed into a canyon. What got me looking that direction was 3 coyotes humping it at warp speed across one of my fields to get some distance between them and the wolf. I was struck by the difference in size between the wolf and coyotes---much like when you see elk near deer off in the distance.
Have learned from local wildlife staff in the past few weeks about collared wolves nearby on long frolics from NE Oregon. Last one was a 1/4 mile off us, so I'm told. Haven't seen any direct sign of them. But it's pretty evident (much like when a cat is nearby) when something from the top of the food chain is close by, as the deer pull a Houdini in a hurry. The patterns from the tracking show the wolves covering a lot of ground in very short periods of time. Just repeating what I've been told by those in the know.
@huntinphool---I'm no track expert, so wouldn't disagree with your thought. WDFW seemed convinced it was two different animals.

Pretty big size difference for a canine to be the same.

This is two different animals. Why would anybody put any trust in WDFW making any sort of judgement calls. They know less about wildlife than anybody. Talk to an avid hunter, guide or rancher. They see way more wildlife than any WDFW bio..
