We got everyone here on the costco kirkland "Chicken and rice", when looking at the ingrediants label and comparing it to pro plan performance and eukanuba premium performance it is superior in ingrediant and the dogs look killer on it and the consumption rate is down a cup and they are still gaining weight. Best value in price and performance IMO.

I looked at the Kirkland stuff many years ago and it was total garbage and never looked at it again.  May have to have another look if they have gone to a better supplier.
Thing I worry about with Costco is who is suppling the stuff in their packaging, I've noted in some of their other products that it changes from time to time while the packaging remains the same.
I don't think they would falsify an ingerdient label, I'd keep an eye on it for changes.
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.

Since you asked,I called the 1800 number on the bag, the manufacturer is diamond, the formula is fixed, the formula is owned by costco and is made for them and them only and the ingrediants are superior to pro plan performance and eukanuba. I compared the ingrediants of all three. The proof is in the outward appearance of the one dog we put on it,I have 8, the other 7 are on it now as well.It costs 75 cents per pound whereas PPP and Euk are 50 cents per pound more. The digestive health ingrediants are excellent in beet pulp, seaweed, carrots, peas. We were feeding the test dog 4 cups of PPP per day and he looked like crap, skinny and a dull coat,he is currently gaining weight on 2 1/2 cups per day,he has gained 10 pounds in 2 months on this feed and the 40 pound sack lasted 2 months for that dog.His coat is smooth and very shiny.Worth giving it a look considering the monetary savings and the performance it provides.

Thanks for the info wildweeds,
Gonna have a look next time I'm in Costco.
I'm kinda set in my ways but not enough to pass saving some $$ on a good product.

Been using Canidae dry food since both my dogs were pups.
http://www.canidae.com/company/customertest/canidae1.html

One dog is an English Setter and the other is an older Australian Shepherd. Although both dogs are getting older now and slowing down, they worked hard in the field and I still hunt with the setter. The shep is retired. He was a great trail dog and would go with my wife on trail rides when she would cover 20 or more miles a day on a horse. My setter would run hard every days chasing grouse day after day.
Neither dog had any skin or nutrition problems. Works for us.

Canidae can be a bit hard to find but our local feed store in Sumner carries it so it's not a problem.

I will put in a fourth for Natures Domain from Costco. I used to feed Taste of the Wild (until it got to expensive due to more than one dog) and Vetrinarian Formulated (VF). Now that Costco has Natures Domain (TOW Kirkland version) I have the dogs back on it. They look great, but they have been since I went away from the cheap food with grain in it.
