If you really care about your animals "Not targeting you personally",Look for specialty foods. I highly highly recommend "Fromm" brand. They have different variations for meat and or veggy dominant. Depending on your breed of dog, or cat. What are you basing that on? Ingredients or results?Again, I've had good results with it. I even know of a field trailer or two who run their dogs for more miles hooked up to a quad and in the field than most average dog owners will and they also feed PPP to their crews.I also know of a number of people who feed anything but PPP to their dogs and also get good results. To that I say great, whatever works.

His health will deteriorate over time, whether you notice it or not. Just like man, even though he looks in shape, doesnt mean he is. And alot of people feed theyre dogs that stuff, because they just dont know of anything better. They think "Its the best, or It works just fine." But are usually open to atleast try new products that are possibly better for them. Im just trying to share what I do know. My girl and her family grew up training show dogs. We have an amazing shebu inu that I love to death. I couldnt imagine feeding him anything but the best. No stabs at what anyone feeds theyre animals. Just trying to share

My golden missed a lot of this year from allergic reactions that had him chewing his feet raw. Switched to Natures domain and doing great. Not saying this was the problem at all, But It could be an issue with some peoples animals. It seems not very many people are aware of flea hypersensitivity. Just a few flea bites will cause the same effect (that you explained), in which your average pet can take a whole infestation and barely go noticed. Diet does play a role in helping but does not solve the problem. Cheers to everyone and caring to actually look into better feeding/tending theyre animals. Remember your animals are a part of the family, You wouldnt want to be fed garbage, Neither do they, They just cant tell you otherwise.

Show dogs get worked to build up their muscle tone for the judges. they might not have hunt from dawn til dusk but they are no couch potatoes either.I don't think there is one perfect dog food out there, every dog is going to react differently to any given formula. I have four dogs and at one time I was feeding Three different brands and formulas in accordance to what I thought they needed. I am down to one now ( natures domain or TOTW) and everyone's improving. my last hold out was my youngest setter who was on ppp for most of his life. he wouldn't gain weight ( looked too thin even for a shag) and his coat looked like chit ( in the right light you could see his pink skin) after a month and a half of natures domain he gained a couple healthy pounds and his coat fluffed up like crazy. Im not saying natures domain did this, I think any dog food a with a nutritional value better than PPP would have achieved this result.PPP's second ingredient is corn gluten meal, which is something most higher quality brands are staying away from, I think I am going to follow their lead.if I had the time, energy, and money I would feed the BARF or Raw diet again, my dogs had never looked better or had more energy.

How can I find out what was causing it for sure? Fleas are under control now.

I've got some friends who show Pointers and their dogs do well in the show ring (not bad in the field too incidently). The most exercise those dogs get is whatever they burn wandering their 3 acres every day. They're lean, but comparing them to the dogs running at Ames this week is like night and day.Compared to past years my dogs have had it easy this year, but I've demanded a lot out of my dogs at times and it showed in their calorie burn. I know of other guys who hunt their dogs 30-60 days in a hunting season, sometimes for days at a time. Not just any fuel is going to keep their motors running. Some of those dogs get run in fun trials or NSTRA or AF trials in the off season too.Guys really running the heck out of their dogs should really take a look at Dr. Tim's. While I'm not wild about the multi meat protien in it (food allergy risks there), I've heard some good things about it. My point is guys need to look at what they're doing with their dogs and choose appropriate feeds relative to that. But like I said, if it works for your budget and your dog, feed it. My wife and I need to head to Costco this week anyhow, maybe I'll pick some Nature's Domain and give it a try.
