I shoot 3" #4 buck when i tote the shotty yote hunting and would not think twice about pulling the trigger at 50 yards.  60 yards i would have to think about but more than likely would shoot as well.

Your '06 would have to be pretty far off to miss a yote at 50 yards. I'd set up a target and zero it. That way you are good much further. :twocents:

Depends a lot on your choke. 50 yards is getting out there without a really tight choke. I have gunned a lot of dogs with 4 buck over the years.

The mod will open the pattern up a bit quick. Paper it and the groups will tell you what range you are good to.

i shot a dog ( someones pet) who had been killing deer in the area and it was at 40 yards and the 00 buck worked great. i think someone dumped the dog off and when it seen me it was real aggressive so i had to put it down but at 40 yards it worked fine.

The #4 buckshot will give a much denser pattern than the 00 buck. It's 40 some pellets versus about a dozen. #4 buck is the way to go IMO. I actually use BB's when I hunt with a shotgun, but that's mainly just because I have a lot of them.

I've always been a "T" shot guy for dogs.  Though I've been a bit disappointed in the Dead Coyote.  I'd go Remington HD "T" if I were using the shotgun for dogs these days.
He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."
