i've about given up on the wynoochee and satsop in the winter.  too many people, and i can only stand to see so many guides with 425, 253, and 206 area codes painted on their boats out here before my blood pressure starts to rise.

i thought fishing was starting to get crappy 10 years ago, i never thought i'd wish that it was that good again.
Almost the same story farther up the coast.  But many of the non-local guides I would run into were from Alaska and Montana--think all the bug flickers were coming over from Montana.  Some of the rivers were getting so crowded I think a boat is almost necessary so you can backtroll, cause trying to fish from the bank was tough with a boat crossing your line every other cast.

I remember back when 5 other boats on the Nooch was considered crowded. The old man and I used to take his little 14ft sled on that river and it was great but now days when we drive by there its not uncommon to see 10 or more rigs at each of the launches!  :bash: :bash: :bash:

Hmmm I wonder if I could get my 26fter on that river! The Satsop has become just as bad but thats what you get when F&G starts closing down rivers and limiting where people can fish!

Its good to hear that they got the hazard removed!

Which trees on the Nooch were causing boats to sink? This is probably the 5th and 6th boat I have heard if this year. I have floated it twice this year from Carter Creek to Crossover, and I didn't see anything that was bad unless you just weren't paying attention...Was it the low overhanging one just above white bridge?

They were just above the white bridge launch. And your right! there was no logical reason I could see for this to sink boats.
Yep, with all that gravel bar spanning the rest of the river, it would seem logical to drag your boat around it if there isn't room to float by. Glad nobody got hurt, but people need to learn to use common sense...  :twocents:

I drug around that tree.  The only way I can see getting into trouble would be realizing you had to drag around it too late.  It wasn't completely obvious from above that there isn't enough water to slip around the end.  It was certainly obvious that you needed to think about it though.
