Ar with no forward assist

When I built my ar I decided on Rainer arms slick flat top (no forward assist) http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=2940. I have problems with getting the first round to fully seat does anyone know of a way to to smooth it out I have the chrome bolt http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=1011 shown here I'm kinda at a loss I have to manually load the first round every time.

You might try a new or stiffer spring and heavy buffer. Might give it that extra power to chamber the first round.

Let the charging handle go for a slam.  Throw some lube also.  I am not a fan of forward assist, so I offer that even if you had a FA I contend you would still not be happy because having to use a FA  outside of the dirty conditions of combat is a issue upon itself.  Therefore there is a issue with the chambering regardless of forward assist.

I have tried lube and I slam it I know m16's (usmc for 5years) I'll try the stiffer spring if I can find one here in Montana lol. Any other suggestions

Carps may be right on with the firmer spring.  If you think about it let us know if you find a fix.

I'll try stretching the spring tonight and let you all know. anybody know where to get a stiffer spring?

You might have a tight chamber.  Do you have a problem getting the loaded round OUT?  If you do, you might have to turn a bit off the necks of the cases if you reload.  If it does it with factory loads, you might have to send it back to the manufacturer for repair.  Have you tried a different magazine?  Sometimes the mag is the problem....

My AR chambered in the wildcat 20 LBC slams the cartridge in every time, but if I try to EASE the round in to keep the noise down, the cartridge hangs up half way out of the magazine, and it takes a push on the forward assist button to make it "snick" into the chamber.  Just a little quirk I've learned to watch for.

Im not sure what spring I bought I got it from Rainier arms I assembled the rifle by myself first one I built from scratch it shoots lights out holds moa with *censored* ammo and .5 with my handloads

Yeah I had a rifle that needed a new spring that was doing the same thing. They do have a certain number "shot" life on them. I think the spring may be just a little light because of the amount of rounds you have put threw it. Since it sounds like it's been around for awhile, just like the one I had problems with.
