I have used both and switched to loose last year.  Pellets worked for me everytime.  I have seen others that have had less reliable ignition with it though.  Loose will ignite more reliably.  That was the biggest reason for me.  :twocents:

Pellets are for 209 primers only. Says right on the box. There are way to many misfires using pellets with musket caps or #11. And I completely clean my gun every three shots.

have only ever used pellets and never had a problem.  Good accuracy and always go of when I want them to. :dunno:
:yeah:I've never had a misfire out of my T/C xr, don't plan on switching. And I use a musket cap, works just fine.

Not true.  They make some that are designed to be used without the 209 primers.  Some are meant for the 209, and yes they do say it on the box.

The triple 7 pellets are for 209 as well as some of the pyrodex. Pyrodex does make a pellet form with an excellerant ignition added at the tip to work with musket caps since they are not as hot burning as 209. More often then not they are used for 209. Plus why pay for expensive powder pellets when you can get a pound of loose for cheaper and get a whole bunch more shots out of it. And from what ive heard be more reliable out of all guns for accuracy. loose powder is More reliable in my opinion. But yes most people that use these pellets end up using the 209 pellets because that is more available. It may work at the range out of your gun but do you want to risk it on the buck/bull of your life.

Loose, because I feel ignition is easier. No hard core facts other then if I'm trying to start a fire it is much easier to get the fire started using kindling (loose powder) rather then putting a match to a log (pellets). :twocents:

Pellets, because they're easy and the elk are still just as dead afterward.

Pellets here... Never had a misfire from using them with a #11 or musket cap...... I only shoot musket caps now... I only swithced to pellets from 777 loose because of ease and I got the same accuracy with a little more juice behind it....

when shooting pellets there is a delay between pulling the trigger and ignition which affect accuracy, We switched to loose and have no delay and greatly improved accuracy.

I started with the pellets and used them for six years.  I am now using 777 3f loose powder.  I used to get hang fires and such with the pellets quite often.  Since I have switched I haven't had one yet.  it seems to burn hotter and cleaner.  Yes it takes a little more time to prepare.  But in my opinion well worth it.

I have used both. For me I prefer the pellets because of the no mess. Thats not to say that powder is always messy, I am just lazy. 2 50 grain pellets down the barrel and im ready to go. Powder does have its advantages over pellets and that you can get very accurate with your shot meaning 110 grains of powder or 120 as where pellets come pre measured. Can't really say one is better than the other its what ever will ge the job done and what you want to use.
