(3) It is unlawful to hunt game birds or game animals, except bullfrogs, in a manner other than with a firearm, a bow and arrow, or by falconry, except in those designated areas where crossbows are allowed.

Just say you weren't hunting with the spear. You were just going for a walk and the bear attacked. Luckily you had a spear to defend yourself.

Same excuse I think my brother was going to use if he got caught shooting grouse with a slingshot.

I didn't say you couldn't; I just said it was not legal.

The regs at times can be confusing.

If you petition WDFW you may get an exemption to hunt with a spear. Its not like some states dont allow it. There is precedent out there. I would like to try and hunt with an atlatl. Good luck.

ROFL YEAH luckily I just had an 89 Inch spear on hand to defend myself against random wildlife, hahahahaa

In my opinion thats one of the best inventions old bushmen ever came up with, I ABSOLUTELY love the atlatl. Ive actually built one personally and had a blast with it.
