Whitetails v. Mulies and their personalities
« on: February 09, 2013, 06:13:32 PM »
No antlers in these photos.  But when I took these today from fairly close distances, I thought the outcome said a lot about the difference between whitails and mulies.  The whitail looks alarmed, the mulie looks like she could care less.

i am far from any kind of pro deer hunter.but i grew up in davenport huntin mule deer.fast forward to now with a bow n i could not for the life of me get a shot at a whitetail last year.i gave up n went after a mulie n filled my tag in about an hour of hunting.
these whitetails are going to take some serious work.
great pics.

Hunted white tail in the late season this year out on the Palouse for the first time (hunted sage mulies for the last 7 years) but the white tails definitely seemed more on edge than most of the mulies I've hunted before  :twocents:

From what I've seen muledeer are more curious and if they do run most of the time they stop and look back to see what they are running from. The whitetails wound rather run from everything and never look back. Im not sure why they are so different.

I think the Blacktail is even more skittish than a whitetail

Really. I've never hunted the blackies. Thats interesting I figured they would be more like muledeer. Good info to know if I ever try hunting them.
