Bobcat and Coyote (in the same picture)
« on: February 09, 2013, 07:22:07 PM »
One of the baits I've had going for about a month now, has had no action except hawks, well the coyotes finally found it a few days ago and tore into the elk hide, and everything else. They drug the elk hide off about 50 feet. Then a bobcat showed up. Actually it looks like the bobcat was there first, on 2/4 but didn't stick around, only got three pictures. Then a few hours later the coyotes showed up. They tore into the elk hide that I had tied to a tree, and they finally got it drug off.

Up until now all that's been there is hawks, they have been eating on the duck and goose carcasses. On the 7th the bobcat and the coyotes showed up at the same time. I got three pictures of the cat on a stump and a coyote on the ground. Just wish I'd of had one of my white flash cameras there instead of the infrared. Sure would have been nice to have a color picture of that. I doubt I'll ever get a coyote and a bobcat in the same picture ever again.

OK, this is it. And by the way, sure wish I hadn't left that black garbage bag there last weekend.   :bash:

I would like to take up trapping. For sure that sounds like fun. It's just the money and time commitment that's kept me away from it, but maybe next year. I definitely know enough areas where bobcats are living.

I forgot to say, I added four new goose carcasses to the bait at this spot. Tied them to that little fir tree, where the elk hide had been tied. I also switched the camera over to video. That should make for some interesting video.

That's awesome you got pictures of them both at the same time! You sure do see some awesome stuff on trail cams that you would otherwise probably never see!

Cool pics.  You will have to save the yote and bobcat ones for future postings.

I got a couple more pictures of the bobcat at this location. I put up another camera last weekend, a Tasco, on the small stump, so the distance is cut in half. The one cat to me looks small, like it's a young one. The stump behind it is large so I wasn't sure if it was just the stump making the cat appear smaller than it really was. But then the next picture was a bigger looking cat.
