I need some advice! I found a bear that will wiegh well over 500lbs! I am not joking at all! If I wanted to hunt him with a bow, what would be the best way to bring him in and the best way to take the shot? Any avice would be great! Should I put up a stand? Have a guyready with a back up gun? Call him in? Just hope he comes out? What do yall think when it comes to legally harvesting a huge bear? I will not tell ya'll exactly were I found him but he is a Longbeach Bruin! And he has a few girls around with some cubs! How would you hunt a toad of a black bear?

With the bow. I would not bring him in but go to him. Sneak up...

Just make sure he doesn't see you or smell you. Otherwise... have someone with a big gun ready. Those damn bears move so fast... it's not funny.

Same here. If he is that big I would not want to chance anything. Just the slightest breeze change, a twig snap, or maybe even if you fart back at the rig...and he's gone. Double lung him and try to cart him out whole..

Oh yea, the LB area is not that big. I may be down..

if you have a bow and are wanting to take it with a bow..I would tree stand it for sure.

Most of Longbeach is firearm restriction area isn't it? I worked down at Fort Canby State Park 22 years ago and I was a little surprised at how many bears there were down there. There didn't seem to be many places to hunt them though, and I assume there are even less areas to hunt them now.

I hope you get him, and sorry I don't really have any advice except............................I'd use a shotgun with slugs or at least have a buddy with a slug gun backing you up.

Yeah, Long Beach does have a firearm restriction. No rifles west of Sandridge Road which is basically the entire peninsula. Good luck HEADSHOT. There are some monsters around here.

just go after him. make a good stalk and put it where it belongs.If your worried about getting bit your probly gonna be shaking like hell.Im not bragging but I havent shot a bear over 20yrds and as close as at the muzzle of my rifle.Ive never had one come at me after the shot.I have had 3 of them come at me before the shot.Ahound hunter I know shot one that was standing on his chest,he didnt get bit but his hounds got nailed a few times.unless your baiting I dont think a tree stand will work unless your ontop of a good food source,for bow.I call them,theres nothing like a close encounter of the furry kind at 10 feet with drool escaping his jaws and hair all puffed up.Dam Im getting excited ill be back in 7 seconds im going to go rub one out

Use a big gun and shoot until the bear is anchored. I would not want to chase it with a bow if you wound it.

If you have to use a bow, the best shot it when it is cornering away from you, shoot behind the ribs at the opposite shoulder. Hope like heck you get both lungs.

Well Tuesday I went out and shot 1 of the three I have been hunting, I had my 4 year old with me and was hunting east of sandridge rd, shot him at 225 yds with my 30-06 he went from a dead run to a dead stop! Broke his back, now I am having his hide tanned and skull beetled. I went and purchased one more tag in hopes of seeing the 500+lb'r! Mine 1st for the year was only a couple hundred lbs, but hey meat is meat and I got him with my boy who hiked in for his 1st hunt with dad over a mile! What a trooper he was!

500 Lbs yeah... One bears are hard to judge so you are looking at maybe a 300+ Truly. Ok and two bears arent very hard to take with a bow I got two last year. Just head out to were you last saw him and work a 300 yard circle and just gaze for sighn. Once you come in thick sighn probably in the thickest cover your gonna wanna hang a stand or build a ground blind... and try to hunt it in the evenings when the bears are going back in to there cover... Yep in questions?
