Took my little brother out for deer and took my second bear. We started hiking at first light and headed for a couple of spots that I had scouted. About 1030 my brother and I were glassing a clearing and we heard something crash behind us. We started to follow her for about 125 yards. There was a good layer of blackberry bushes in between us and it, enough so that we were no more that 20 yards off of where it was. I crept up to the gametrail that she was heading to and crouched down ready to shoot about 10 yards. My heart was damn near jumping out of my chest. More bushes snapping and finally, she poked her head and then shoulders out into the open. I put the crosshairs of my 300 win mag on the boiler room and squeezed one off. With a groan she turned and bailed back into the brush. She went about 15 yards back and then went down and thrashed around for about 10 minutes. Had to hack my way through the blackberries, but fortunately it was close. A short pack to the road, skinned her, and deboned her and I tagged out. She measured 5'4" head to tail and Im guessing she weighed close to 200 lbs. Her teeth were pretty beat up so I think that she was getting up there in age.
Anyway, the experience of taking two bears this year has been absolutley unbelieveable. Here are some pictures.

Who skinned her and helped debone her!!! Just giving some *censored*. It is cool that all the hard work you have put in the last five years and all the *censored*est hiking we have done has finally paid off for you. Hopefully next year we can get your bro out there so he can get one. Anyways congrat again on the bear and she tasted really good. Had some steaks the other evening and man they were tasty. The boy is pumped now and wants to fill his second tag too.
