trap shooting league.
« on: February 16, 2013, 06:05:03 AM »
If anyone is interested in do a trap league granite falls sportsman's club is probably going to get one going in the near future.   To my understanding it works pretty much like a bowling league 5 man or women teams.  Handicaps will be figured out of ones ability.  When i know more I'll post more information.

Sounds like a blast! We have a Spring league in Moses lake and it draws a good crowd.

It was proposed at Wednesdays board meeting.  Its still in the works.  How long is your league and how does the format work?

6 weeks long. We did 25 16s and 25 handi. The first week everyone shot handi from the 20 yard line, then adjusted team yardages as the team average fluctuated. I recruited  4 new shooters, so our handi average was low, thus we shot handi from the 16 as well. Skilled teams with high averages shot all the way back to the 27 to make things as fair as possible. We pulled in quite a few new members running that spring league, we advertised trying to draw new shooters.

Now that would be really fun to have a state wide league.   That's a lot of work to put together.

That would be a great time having a Hunt WA league. We could have some sort of spread sheet on here to keep track of our scores, maybe even shoot a pre and post season shoot at a gun club of our choice. May be one on the W side and one on the E side? Then shoot league nights at our own club.

That is all you need to get him hooked on shooting! I got my wifes nephew started on a H&R 20ga last year. He breaks scores in the teens routinely. He shot my wifes O/U 12ga the other night and now wants a new 12ga. Kid is hooked. :IBCOOL:

Good luck fellas. I had some great times in ML when I played ball there for a year. Was it Thurs night?? Can't remember now. Shot at Evergreen a ton when I played over on the wetside for my remaining years. Wish I could partake.

sounds like it should be a good time, i always enjoyed shooting leagues.  i know the wenatchee gun club has a few different leagues set up in the winter if you know anyone that shoots at wenatchee give them a shout they should be able to give you some insight to how they do it there.
