Infrared Question
« on: February 14, 2013, 10:41:14 PM »
I was thinking about getting an Infrared monocular with my income tax return. Unfortunately not going to have much after paying bills so I'm looking for one around 2k max. Looking for insight and opinions on what people think or have tried. The FLIR First Mate II MS-224b NTSC 240 x 180 Thermal Night Vision Black for $1745 is kinda what i had in mind or the FLIR Scout PS-24 7.5Hz Video Thermal Imaging Camera, 240x180. which I have found for about the same price. I'm going to use it for calling dogs in the dark. instead of scaring them away searching with a light. I have a Night owl Night vision monocular. Don't get me wrong it works great as long as something is moving or not too well hidden it's hard to tell them and bushes apart. Lots of sagebrush where I go so they're really well hidden. Thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated.

I have have the Night Owl from Cabelas. They are on sale for $150 now. Those others are too expensive for me. Hope the price difference from a $200 compared to $2000 is worth it.

FLIR is pretty awesome. The ability to see field mice walking around at 100 yards is insane. But you better have your eyes ready. Can't see a damn thing after using them for a while

I bought my Night owl 2 from cabelas for $150 too but its limited to what you can tell apart. i have troubles seeing anything with it unless its moving. most the coyotes I've seen that sniffed me out stay pretty well covered. seeing the mouse in the field at 100 yrds is what im looking for. Which one do you have?
