I burried a 3/0 gami in my thumb nail far enough to bury the barb.  Hurt like an SOB pulling it out with pliers.

I put a 2/0 gami right through the the 1/2" hole I have in my ear  :chuckle: I'm glad I was a "cool" kid and gauged out my ears....or that hook would have really hurt going into my ear  :yike:

I got in a fight with my brother one night, stepped on a rapala. One hook buried deep into my big toe right next to the nail, the other stuck to the carpet. I couldn't really do much to protect myself in that fight

I was bass fishing and had gotten my line wrapped in my bow mount electric motor.  As I was trying to get it untangled, I accidentally hit the on switch (while the line was laying across my thigh).  The 17 pound test broke after the 4/0 worm hook buried into my thigh after the line wound around the prop.  It all happened so fast.

I have another story too, but it is more embarrassing.  That hook is still stuck in me after 20 years. :o
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

I got a Zara Spook caught on a twig sticking out of the water. I pulled, and pulled, until the spook came off and right at me at a zillion MPH and lodged in my Lt bicep. Off to the ER.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

Pain that I can feel!  My kid got me with a blue fox and it went through the top part of my ear.  Hurt like a sob!

My buddy had his front teeth knocked out when the guy next to him hooked up on a snag.  The guy backed up pulling his line back and the hook must have straightened out and the lead came flying back!
Cut em!

Everett coho derby last summer. I was reaching down to clear him from the net and the upper hook got head thrashed into my finger. Not a 10/0 holy *censored*  :o but it still hurt. Drank away the pain and wrapped it up.

Had a client in AK decide he was going to "help" me get the hook out of pinger halibut by lifting it out of the water just as I reached out for the leader. Of course the hook tore out and the rod acted like a sling shot throwing the 24 oz sinker up at warp speed and burying this 10/0 Gamakatsu J-Hook straight into the bicep. Hook point ended up in a main nerve, made my whole arm go numb and seize up everytime i would turn my wrist. It was a long boat ride back to town! Clients earned their keep by pulling the anchor and filleting the fish on the ride in.

All but one of mine (too many to count) were due to the same client help.  Can't really blame them as they are just excited.  But dang if you don't want to smack'em upside the head afterward :chuckle:  Back in the days of the Abe & Al flashers we got a good number of facial lacerations each year too.  Customers would ask why we called them dodgers? :chuckle:  The response was always good for a laugh.  My worst was having a gaff hook put all the way through my calf by a client that decided he was going to help me get a big salmon shark on board.  He runs across the deck, slips and drives it in just below the knee and out mid calf.  Well, at least the customer wasn't hurt  ;)

All good fun!  Wouldn't trade those days for nothing.  At least I ended my fishing days with all my fingers.  That's something about 50% of they guys I worked with can not say.
