New Bow...Bear Encounter
« on: February 19, 2013, 07:24:20 AM »
I picked up my very first bow this weekend.  :IBCOOL: I was looking for a decent beginner bow and walked away with the Bear Encounter. I was also looking at the PSE Stinger 3g. It was between those two but went with the Bear. No one had a PSE in stock and I had the money ready so I plopped it down. I really wanted to do businees with a small shop thats local to me but he didnt have anything in my price range in stock ( I got the green light from the wife so if I didnt spend it on a bow it would have gone toward shoes or something :bash:). Ended up going to a big box store but plan to do business with the small shop (Not sure the rules on naming retailers here).

I really like the bow and super fun to shoot. I can only go out 10 yards safely in the yard so I need to get some range time. I do plan on hunting with it so I need practice practice practice. I havent hunted in 20 years and that was in NC where I grew up (Just moved to WA from CA ).

There is a tiny bit of vibes but I am not sure if I am just nit picking or not. Big box did set it up for me but I am going to take it to the small shop and have him go over it. My buddy in San Diego who bow hunts says they should have paper tuned it which they did not.

Thanks. Got a buddy over in Port Orchard that I will be hunting with. They hunt some private land so that will be nice.

You did not say where you bought it. but if it was at the Sportsman's Warehouse it should have been paper tuned.  If you did not get it from SW you can bring it in for a free paper tune anyway.  Ask for Larry.

I'm sorry to hear that.  Our policy is to paper tune at the outset, and then invite you back for a re-fit and re-tune after 150 shots or so.  I'll be there until 6PM most of this week.  Bring it in, and let me make it right for you.

Btw, Its $7 a day for the archery ranges or $100 to be a full member for a year with unlimited shoot time, They have a walk through course also for archery. I havent used either but Ive been up there to check them out. Kinda nervous to go for my first time to be completely honest haha.
