I got a new 2013 Ram quad cab 4x4 this week and I want to get a canopy for it, Since I have no experience with them what would you recommend as far as brand and were to purchase in the Seattle Tacoma area.

Not sure of your type of use needs but snugtop makes a darn good canopy.  I have this model for my Ford.  I really like it.  Here is a link to the website for the model I have.

I bought mine through Superhawk in Marysville.  They gave me the best price by far in the local area.

I have a Leer canopy for my truck.  It has lockable gun storage and a clothes hanger as well at two lights and a three place plug in for accessories.  It has been a really great addition to my truck.

Kinda depends what you want out of it? To just cover the bed. To camp out under it from time to time. You can have them custom built to your likes! Lots o options.

Leer makes a good canopy, my Dad has one on his 02' Tacoma and it does the trick for hauling crap around, keeping the rain/dust out and gives you ample room to sleep in the back if that's what you choose to do when you go hunting

-1 for Leer for me I bought a xl100 for my tundra and all the windows leaked after many trips back to canopy world to no avail.  After getting fed up I caulked them shut.  There is no way I would ever buy a Leer again.

To go to the next level in this tread....
I just bought a 2013 Tacoma 4x4 and want to put a canopy on it also.
What are your thoughts about aluminum canopies...for camping, hunting...etc.

If you love something you will set it free, if it don't come home, hunt it down and kill it.

i have a tailgate replacement topper on my rig made by ARE and it does great. im still kind of deciding how i like the tailgate replacement idea but it is kinda nice for camping (i sleep in my truck) just flip the latches from the inside and push the door up also makes for a nice awning to sit under when its raining or theres no shade to find

Keep in mind that all the canopy companies make multiple models of canopies.
I had an ARE X series on my Chevy color matched the truck, but faded within 4 years. Struts failed in 3 years. Low end canapy, and it showed it.

The Leer XL100 I now have on my Ram 1500, has been very good going on 10 years, will need new struts soon.

Another +1 for Superhawk.  Gary will get you pricing over the phone and I would guess it would be worth the drive to Marsville.  By far the best pricing around for many years

Good deal!

I made the mistake of buying the ARE I had from that truck accessories dealer that use to be along HWY167. I should have shopped around, I paid more for that PS canopy then I did for a brand new Leer 4 years later from a dealer off HWY 99.
There are a ton of way over priced canopy dealers out there.

I would look on craigslist for a little while, they want an arm and a leg for new canopies. Sometimes you can find good deals on the web.
