Once drawn, you are done, or is that NM. Its Utah.  This state could do that

In for New Mexico too. If I were an out of State hunter I would be putting in for NM since they have no points system. Although they went and severely limited out of state tags a couple years back.

I am in with 11 points for elk, moose and desert bighorn and 4 deer points.  I should have a pretty good shot at an archery elk tag I hope.

I hit the lottery and drew a Wasatch Mts moose tag with three points in 2010, so I'm done with that.  In for everything else except points only for general deer and antelope.  I thought a few folks were going to shoot me over my luck in that moose draw.

I'm in for everything with 4 points on most but 14 points on deer & bison. Once I spend the deer points I think I'm done with Utah, got a bison in Wyoming already and my Utah bison odds get worse the more points I get, less than 1% now, just cant justify it for the odds.

Soccerguy, how was the moose hunt?

Well, it was very short.  I went self guided with a friend of mine.  A month before the season, I flew to Salt Lake City and scouted the area for three days with a friend from the Provo area who is a sheep guide who knows the unit real well.  The only moose we saw was a 40" bull and he asked me if that one would be big enough.  I looked at him for a while and decided he would be.  A month later, on opening day of the season, we want back to the same area.  We passed on two small bulls the first five minutes of daylight but spotted a much larger bull about an hour later.  A closer look revealed that it probably was the same bull from a month earlier, or his twin brother.  Two shots later and the hunt was over.  In fact, he was exactly 40" wide, but not tremendous paddles...OK for point length.  I was prepared to hunt much longer but the advice I got from others who had hunted that unit said that a bull of this size was a shooter unless I was prepared to wander into the more remote, rugged areas of the unit (and there are some).
