I have a very nice walnut stock on my weatherby...I want to bring it hunting but do not want to scratch it :dunno: is there any kind of tape or whatever I could put on my stock?

Take it off and buy a replacement off of eBay to use for hunting. Store the nice one and save it for later. Don't put tape on it.

I've used this stuff to cover up a youth bow that was bright red... it holds on good, and doesn't leave any residue.

I agree with Jackalope.  If you're trying to keep it showroom new, the tape will keep the finish nice, but you'll still get dents in the wood with the banging against trees, rocks, dropping it, etc...

Don't worry about it! Scratch it before you go and you can focus on the hunt.

if youre that worried about the stock getting marked up youre better off buying a replacement stock be it wood or synthetic and hunt with the replacement and leave the original at home,  every gun that sees any sort of use will get a few dings and scratches even my higher dollar trap guns have a couple dings in them and they only see the trap range and i baby the crap out of them.

or just take ICEMAN's advice and slide it across the garage floor before you leave
