Channel Cats in the pot holes????????????
« on: August 06, 2007, 06:03:10 PM »
I keep hearing more about the channel cats being in different areas around the pot holes. I caught a small one off Dodson Rd out of the Winchester a couple years ago but haven't caught one since then. All I get is yellow bellies when fishing at night. I don't know my way around the area very well but they seem to be catching cats in O'Sullivan but either it's too good to talk about or they're realy only getting bull heads in Moses Lake.
Anyone want to jump in here?

Fletch might be your man to talk to.  He was nailing them somewhere over there.

When you find out where the catfish are, give me a shout and I will be right there with you! All I have ever seen are yellow bellies and they suck! I grew up catching catfish and miss that fight. Salmon don't hold a candle to a catfish when it comes to the fight!

I talked to an old man that you could tell used some stink bait. MG that stuff stinks. He has caught them while walleye fishing during the day but he says they mostly bite at night around the south west part of the lake. He comes from Moses to fish for them there said he didn't do any good that night but was suppose to stop by my place and get my phone # he's getting old (yes older then me at almost 60) and could use some company.Said he has duck hunted around there for 50 years and ask if by any chance did I ever hunt duck. Told him the only time I hunted duck was when I wasn't cat fishing but that stink bait was different then any I've ever smelled. He said, learned it in Texas.
I like night crawlers, chicken liver, and cut bait the most but have never caught a large one.
I was surprised that I caught one in the Winchester because there's a water fall before it goes into O'Sullivan. I have a family at camp that like carp and thats great because I like catching them. This year the small perch are killing me eating my worms before the carp have a chance. Yes, I do fish for walleye and bass but never caught a walleye and am poor at bass fishing. Fact is can't think of much I am good at.

Hell Tank, I use frozen mackeral and cut it into strips. It is a real bloddy fish and the cats go nuts on it. I like it better than worms any day of the week.
