Just got my 2005 Mt Goat back from the Taxi and just thought you guys might like to see. This goat was taken on about the 7-8th day of the hunt. Very nice goat and I'm very proud of him. Score was 47 1/8 I think.

This is a few pics before I took him.

This is the one I was after. I took the pics during the season but didn't pull the trigger because I had to work the next day!

I think this goat would have made the 50 inch's for the BC book.

Good choice on a taxidermist. It did turn out great. Nice once in a lifetime if we are lucky trophy!

beautiful goat and great mount to boot....got a full story on your hunt you'd care to share?

2 years after moving here from upstate new york i did my first back country hunt for elk off of horses. i saw a group of 15-20 goats on the side of a mountain and i sat and watched them things for an hour or more...i was in awe....we don't have anything like that in NY and i have been interested in them ever since, and put in for the tag where i saw them every year too.

Nice goat! I dont agree on the mount though. Wish I would get drawn for one of them buggers. They sure look pretty on the wall.

Well that's my fault because Todd mounted him to the T how I wanted him. He was bedded down on a ledge above me and all I could see was his horns until I finally spooked him and he stood and started up the cliffs. He was looking over his shoulder down at me when I shot. I was looking at the legs on the mount, the work is fine but the legs needed to be altered. Looks to me that it was a manikin that was standing on all fours on a level rock and he turned it so it was going uphill and didnt alter the legs, looks like hes gona fall over backwards to me. The work is good though. Most of the legs should be straight down supporting his weight. If that makes sence? I probably shouldnt have said anything , it just bugs me to see things that get over looked. I'm a picky sob

I was gonna ask "how come they (the taxidermist) never make the chests as wide as they are in real life? I mean look at the pic you took of this guy ... he has a real broad chest, then on the mount it's half the width ... what the heck? it seems like every mount I see of goats it's the same story?

I had taken a picture of a goat in this positon. Here is a comparison. Mount looks quite accurate.

Mount looks wrong, look at the legs. See how they are under him in the live picture, almost straight up and down on the front legs. The mount they are angled and not under the goat where they should be.

Pretty Goat, they are tops on my list also...I'd get a full mount done too, looks good,

To me it looks like the owner mounted it wrong on the wall ,maybe if it was level instead of tilted in a upward maner it wouldnt look like it was heading up hill , just my thoughts , I would like to see a pic of it level on the wall.

If the mount was suppose to be mounted on the wall "level" it would have been. I spent alot of time (over 14 days) scouting and glassing and hunting that year and see goats almost everytime we go bear hunting and I have never seen a goat "fall over backwards" while walking uphill. Thanks for all the comments good and bad, gives me a laugh. And thaks Todd for the mount. By the way what do you think would happen to the "level" of the eyes if you were to mount him standing on "level" ground?

Sorry for taking away from your awesome trophy man, My bad for opening my mouth. I'm really bad on critiquing my work and it spilled over onto your goat mount. I apologize for looking at it as a Taxidermist , I should have been looking at it as a fellow hunter checking out your ounce in a lifetime, dandy goat. I did misinterprit the title a bit. In taxidermy there is a big differance between good and great, which is where I take great as being flawless.

If I ever get drawn I hope to take a GREAT goat like yours but probably wouldnt hesitate on taking a good one

While I agree, it was taken harshly, and maybe should have been held, your comment is spot on as I can see it. That in no way takes away from an AWESOME mount and trophy. I am seriously jealous.

The title was taken very, very wrong! I wanted to show the difference between a "Good Billy" mine, and a record book "GREAT" billy with much, much longer hair, the one I spotted while scouting. There are two differant goats in the pics. Mine being the smaller of the two. No harm in any of the comments and no need to apologize!! Thanks and good hunting.
