shopping for a hunting version of a thumb trigger release

whats a good one?

Right now I have a Ti-metal D loop, looks like I'll need to ditch that in favor of a tie on D loop with the newer thumb triggers


I either lost or misplaced my old one, but it was a cheapy anyways.  I liked it because it was a caliper with swivel head, not seeing those around much anymore.  It worked with the ti D loop though.

The head swivels 360 degrees. It's not a tourney sear type release, but I don't need a 200 dollar release I'll probably loose in a few years in the bush

I was really impressed by the Carter Evolution. I'm not sure if that qualifies as a thumb trigger. It's a back tension release.

Just yesterday I looked at true ball thumb release - I  don't know . Will you have to adjust the lenght of the draw for this type of release ? Where is gonna be your anchor point?

I rotate the release thumb down as I draw, and tuck my four knuckles in behind my jaw bone.

Ive got a $50 Cobra Release Aid, that has a 360 degree rotating head, leather straps.  Feels real good on my hand, The trigger sensitivity is adjustable, So is the length of the actual release aid, Its a screw and lock type adjustment. Works great for me. Never had experience with a super high end aid though.

I shoot a truball t handle thumb release. I have been hunting with it for about 5 years if I remember right. I get a extra anchor point with shooting that style of release and I love it.

I needed a release that'd work my metal D loop so I called Eders.com and they didn't know what the heck I was talking about so I called tru ball directly.

They answered my question, but seemed irritated I bothered them with my silly questions

I'm gonna junk it and get a string loop, this thing buzzes and vibrates.  Also I find out they will not work with a string stop and I want to put a string stop on.
With the swivel head of the thumb release I just bought maybe the string won't pop off when I rotate the T handle as easy,  that's what prompted me to put a metal D loop on in the first place.

Ya, I was put off a little.  It wasn't a big deal really, cost me a little bit more on my long distance bill though.

I can tell you they don't like phone calls from the public about their product and are a bit standoffish when answering questions.
I guess they feel the vendors should take care of that aspect   

In the end I still bought it, but really only because I didn't see another four finger T handle release with a 360 swivel head in a caliper style release.

best thing you could do is ditch that metal loop NOW!!! i have seen those draw blood on peoples faces after they break and hit the person as well as break sights and rests, roller guard etc... get a good tied on loop and a carter or a stan if you want a thumb release. i shoot a carter just b cuz. the simple 1 looks good also!

Yea I would ditch the metal d loop. Ive had a few guy come in twith those and I send them out with a non metal dloop. I have that release but in camo and it not to bad but I love the spot hog whipper snapper but the head doesnt rotate on that one. I anchor mon my jaw with it and can shoot lights out with them

carter insatiable , I feel one of the best hand held hunting one out there. I don't understand whyyou need a swivel head style ?
