Shooting Ranges in Kelso area?
« on: September 28, 2008, 11:27:16 AM »
I`m looking for a good place to do some shooting, and get the rifles sighted in. Clatskanie Gun Club is shut down for now, besides, there has to be somewhere closer! Even private clubs would be great. I don`t mind paying! Just need a place to shoot! Happy hunting to all! :)

Lone Oak Gun club up Abernathy Creek, but they only take members in January-February and they have a set # of members so members have to quit before they bring in new. Why is the clatskanie gun club closed?

Hey, first post on here, but I will post for a local fella.  Yes lone oak is a private club.  You can go to the gun shop in Dec and put your name on the list for membership.  I have been a member for 5 years now, not too easy to become a member, the waiting list is long.  I too live in Ostander, on Home Town Drive.  I know there is talk about a new club going in on Barns Dr., but haven't heard much lately.  For what I know it's going to have club members as well as public shoots for a fee, but I don't know much more than that.

You don't have any gravel pits, or logging roads you can go to? We just spent a wonderful day yesterday sighting in our rifles, it was great fun, and we were on a old gravel road with a big hill behind it. Safe and fun, Anyway that what we do for sighting in.

Thanks Opportunist, and SunniCutt, I`ll stop by the GunShop and talk to them about getting on the list. Around here Most of the logging roads are on Weyco land , and right now , they`re still closed. Besides, Weyco doesn`t want target shooting on their land. Their land, their rules! Thanks to the individuals that have to vandalize, dump trash, etc.. As  usual a few screw it up for many!  There should be some place around , I`ll just keep looking. Thanks for the input everyone.
Oh yeah, The Clatkanie gun club is closed until further notice, they have some construction going on, and are not getting enough help to get it done. So , until the work gets done it`s closed. Even to members. They changed the gate combo! That`s all I know.

Tophouse, if you want you can go into Sunnicutt's at 311 n. pacific in Kelso and give my wife your info so I can get ahold of you.  I'm going out to the range sometime this month.  I can take you there, do some shooting.  I have to get ready for a rifle elk hunt in Oregon in Nov.  Her hair solon is at this address.  Her name is Beth.  I would be glad to help you out.  This would give you a idea if the club is what you are looking for.

I checked Today and Clatskanie Gun Club is back up and running. They do have Pistol Matches on Sunday Oct  5th,and Sat. Oct. 11th, but are open during the week for members and guests. Open on weekend days if there are no matches and a volunteer range master available. Just thought I`d pass that info on.
