Wow.....

Just Wow....

A coyote 775 yards from me would be pretty darn safe, I think.

I switched to the hornady a-max because the Bergers were killing my wallet. I am thinking about even going with the barnes match burners or nosler custom comps. But the performance of the hornadys and Bergers are awsome at long range.

How are you able to range within a few yards at that distance? I think it would be difficult to know if you ranged the coyote or a bush 20 yards in front of or behind it.

I would shoot the Berger hunting VLD but the a-max is not recomended. I'm pretty sure some people do and they most likely would work fine but i think the bergers would be better.

Good question. I got lucky and the coyote was standing on a near vertical rock shelf. The range finder picked it up easily. If it was in the brush i would not have been able to pick it up.

That's waaaaaay out there, congrats!  I like your rifle and scope setup.  What do you think of that Vortex range finder and what others have you got experience with?  Not sure I could range a shot at that distance, probably because I'd never see anything out that far to shoot at.

The Ranger is far better than the bushnells and the nikons i have used in the past. Its not a Leica or Swaro but it works good to 400 to 500 with a minimal target. On perfect days it will pick up a deer at 700. For the price i am really happy with it. It does not work when snowing i have found out. It will not range past 20 yards if there are snowflakes in the air. With a big target it will range past 1000 yards
