New Rifle for Fall
« on: March 03, 2013, 11:41:53 PM »
Would the liberal media consider me an 'unstable gun-nut' for taking photos of my new rifle using photography backgrounds?  In my defense the Mrs. was getting pics of the grandkids with the photography background, I just felt the newest member of the family deserved equal treatment.  (Maybe I am a gun-nut? :yike:)  Anyway, I was looking for a light gun to hopefully get my first antelope this year, settled on a Savage 11 Lightweight Hunter in .260Rem, only 5.5 lbs.  Then I decided on a Leupold VX3 up top.  Now, if the antelope gods will just smile on me in the draws and in the field this fall!

Beautiful rifle, the fluting on the bolt does look great.

That scope is BAD ASS!

Just not on a wood stocked rifle. Something like an AR, or sitting in a "chassis" system, or even with a "spiderweb" finished synthetic stock and it would look right at home.

Nice, explain the scope bling a little more.

Originally I just wanted to get a really light weight setup, so I chose the Savage Lightweight Hunter and this VX3 combo which weighs 6lbs. 7oz as-is in the photos.  Then I started looking at Leupold's Custom website, maybe it's just an attempt to try hanging onto a little bit of youth, but I thought the color & engravings looked cool and my conscience (aka the Mrs.) didn't object so I bought it.  Encouraged by this victory with my conscience I went and looked at a gorgeous new Camaro, but my conscience put her foot down and said "no" this time.  :dunno:
