Blues wrap up
« on: September 28, 2008, 03:21:27 PM »
Well I thought I would give you a quick wrap up of my Tuccanon bull permit hunting trip.
I came home empty handed, but had a fantastic time.  Bluebulls and his whole family were very
gracious and really helped me out. Jacob spent two and half days of his own vacation time guiding me around!  I was close to big bulls most every day, but just couldn't get one in range.  Jacob had me withing 55 yards of a big 7x7.  My hunting buddies Jeff, Don, and Eldon, and
my dad all came down at some point to help call and hopfully pack one out. Don and Eldon drove clear accross the state to help. On the last day I found
a big bull with a lot of cows.  We tried calling, and he had just heard too many hunters bugeling and cow talking to be interested.  I waved off my friend Don and Brother-in law Eldon, and slipped in.  I was able to get
withing 22 yards of the cows and just waited.  I could see the 7x7's antlers through the trees at about
30 yards, and the was screaming at a smaller 6x6.  After about a half an hour I saw a small larch tree moving back and forth, I leaned to my left and could see the big bull tearing up a tree at 48 yards!  I was not going to attempt a shot and spend the next week looking for a wounded bull. I waited until I coud not
see any cows and started trying to gain the last 6 or so yards I needed.....a cow somewhere saw me!
That was the end of the hunt.  Lots of fun and lots of great people.  Thanks to all of them.

zero preference points and counting....

Sounds like a great hunt. Did you run into my old school teacher I told you about that had drawn the same tag?

Yes, Wayne Holderby from Kelso. I've called him a couple of times but got no answer, I'll try him today.

Good to hear that you had an enjoyable hunt...even if the freezer isn't any more full. Thanks for the wrap-up also.
