whats it worth old rifle .22
« on: March 05, 2013, 10:35:04 AM »
My neighbor older gentleman calls me over yesterday to look at this rifle and tell him if its worth much and if I wanted it.  I told him i'd check into it for him.

The ammo is worth more! However, those old JC Higgins .22s are excellent shooting guns. I had one that could shoot the tick off a squirrel's butt at over 100 yards.

I bought a very similar set up at a yard sale for 90. It was a Stevens, and in very clean shape with a cheap scope.

I'd give him $150.

From what I have found online these seem to be something kind of special. Especially the 583.81 model 36. Heres one that is cleaned up and in excelent shape that matches your gun exactly on gun broker. I would do a bit more research you may be looking at something real cool here.
