first bear
« on: September 28, 2008, 04:08:16 PM »
Well the title says it all and here's the story.  I found a spot a few weeks ago that has about 20 apple trees in the middle of nowhere and at that time the apples weren't ripe yet.  Well I figured by now they might be close.  I get to the spot and there is bear scat everywhere, broken branches and claw marks on the bases of the trees.  So I find a good tree for my stand and climb it and about an hour later I turn around and there he is by one of the trees.  I had a clear shot about 25 yards but I decided to wait because he was heading closer for a better shot but then he turns around and heads straight away from me giving me no shot and he dissapears.  Never to be seen again (so I thought).  After 20 mins off kicking myself in the butt for being greedy I hear something and low and behold hes back and heading right for me.  He walks right under me and I guess he got a glimpse of me but he ran about 10 yards and stopped broadside looking right up at me and thats when I let the arrow fly.  I hit him a little high and he dropped in his tracks.  thanks for reading I know its long but I just wanted to share my story.  I'll load pics as soon as I figure out how.

Great looking bear texmex. Congratulations on that. The hide looks quality. Are you going to do a rug?
