Anderson Island???
« on: September 27, 2008, 11:48:41 AM »
Hello,

This is my first time posting here, I have been lurking here for a few weeks learning all I can about hunting and Washington state, this site is incredible.

I am new to hunting and Washington, we are moving to the Tacoma area and just recently visited Anderson Island.

I was wondering if anyone here has ever hunted on the island. I am learning how to bow hunt and won't be going until next season but I want to get as much info as I can before hand. When we were there, I saw NO HUNTING signs everywhere,  I know its legal to hunt on the island but just don't know where.

Any ideas or experiences on the island would be great.

It is mostly private land on Anderson and a lot of the folks who live out there are anti hunting hippies.  Gaining permission to trespass is really tough.  I think that it is a firearm restricted area as well.  Good luck.

Saw the biggest Blacktail buck of my life on the Island. 24" 4x4. I have also seen some of the giant bucks that have come off the island. There are some absolutley huge bucks over there. Carry my bow with me in my work truck but have never made a specific trip there to hunt.

Dad was there surveying somebodies property and he was was wearing his red and black checkered wool coat. When he went into the store for lunch they refused to serve him because they thought he was a hunter.

Definately worth the effort!
