Powerhouse 2000wi Inverter Generator
« on: March 04, 2013, 06:42:19 PM »
Does anyone have one of these generators or know anything about them? Cabela's has them for $450, I know a Honda 2000 is the way to go, but $450 is much better looking than $999. The Powerhouse is a bit heavier, it weighs 62 pounds, most reviews say that it is quiet, not sure how quiet compared to the Honda though, from what I can see it is seems like a pretty good deal,  any info would be appreciated, thanks.

I skimped and bought a Ryobi from Home Depot, that was as comparable to the Honda as is the powerhouse.  It was around $500...It worked great...ONCE.  I fired it up at camp the next time, and it ran for about 15 minutes then quit.  I changed the spark plug, fuel, and everything I could think of, and it wouldn't fire.  No spark to the plug.  I had to borrow a Honda from a buddy to make the next 7 days of camp, we swapped it back and forth from camper to camper.  I took it back, and Home Depot gave me store credit.  Long story short, I will never skimp again, I am going to buy a Honda here soon, and never look back!  If my buddy wouldn't have had the Honda, it would have been a long 7 nights with the battery drained and no heat!

Yamaha or Honda.

When they're running 20 years from now you won't even remember the additional cost.

Yeah that is very true, the sound DB's are 56/66 on the Powerhouse and 53/59 on the Honda

My brother bought a 2000 watter from Cabela's and it won't even run his microwave. He drives 35 minutes to my house to pick up my honda 2000 that I bought used for a few hundred bucks. It was road hard by a cement contractor but still kicks his new piece of craps butt.

I was at work today trying to remember the name of the generator that was discussed online here and just pulled up the site to find out.

I work for a non-profit ministry in Kitsap County that rescues children in developing nations like Haiti and Uganda. I'm in need of finding a Honda or Yamaha dealer that would be willing to either donate or sell generators at a discount price that could go overseas to help our ministries. We're constantly looking for quality generators that will hold up under tough weather and living conditions in these countries.

The children in our care (usually orphans) rely on our generators for multiple uses. So we're always looking for multiple types of generators.

If anyone on this thread or on the site knows of someone who might be a good contact for me to work with, please PM me and let me know. I'd love the help.
Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate. - Psalm 127:3-5

I would go straight to the source!  Cheap generators are gonna quit when you need em most, and when your in the middle of no where, you're screwed.  Call your local Honda dealer, like Honda motorcycles/power equipment dealer, and call your local Yamaha motorcycle/power equipment dealer.  Not the place like Cabelas, or Sportsmans, but a no kidding Honda or Yamaha dealer and see what they can do for you.  Maybe they can direct you to a corporate employee authorized to make those types of deals.

I own Honda 2000 inverter generator and had it for 5 years or so ,I don't worry about it -I know it will start -just do the common sense stuff . I would not buy something else - it is super quiet, reliable, lightweight, small in size and yes -it did cost almost 1000 but it is worth it .
Everyone thinks that I'm freak ,I don't look different do I ?
