The 3rd guy in from left to right is my great grandfather. I never got to meet him, so it is pretty cool to have the horns at my dad's house (hopefully someday I will get to have them in my house). I will have to ask my dad more about the buggy.

Great picture and story, thanks for sharing.  As pointed out, due to the notch in the other antler, it certainly could be a bullet hole.  I was just surprised by my find on my caribou and was wondering if it could be the same thing.

The holes usually look different. That looks like a bullet hole from what I would guess.  I've got some examples of the bug variety around my home, I'll see if I can drum them up.

Great post. Love the newspaper story, pictures of now and by gone days. Great history! I have a great picture from the 30's of my Grandpa and his buck. Nobody knows what happened to his antlers though. I think we all appreciate these posts!

Um, it's funny tha the Go Buggy never took off...

My sister in law lives up chumstick and I've never seen anything like that up there.  Makes me want to have another drink.

Yea they do look like nimrods!! ha. Excellent mount, pics , and story thanks for sharing. I have hunted the Chumstick a few times hopefully I will shoot his gene pool buck offspring :chuckle:.

Thanks and I hope so. It just recently moved from my dad's house to my grandparents new house (it was my grandmother's father who shot it). Part of the story I left off is that the horns were varnished when it was shot back in '46 (I guess that was one taxi option back then), and I am the one who did the work of using some sort of paint thinner (I can't remember for sure now) and a TOOTHBRUSH to remove all of the varnish from the horns. Hopefully One day I will get to hang it in my house.
