Where are you guys hunting this weekend. I know Turner will be out checking cams and I've got to go retrieve a site members chair that I found and borrowed. I'd be happy to share any info I can.

Just a question....

What happens when everybody on this site from the Snohomish County area knows your honey holes and "bowls just before the bridge" and all the bear go away? Do you not worry about that? Does it take A LOT of foot traffic to make the bears move along? Again, a question, not whining. I have no idea where you guys hunt

Not real concerned...the area I hunt is well known, gets lots of foot traffic from hunters, bikers, runners...all that. If I can help somebody fill a tag with a spring bear than I think it is worth sharing.

I agree. Every gated road in this area is heavily used and isn't really a secret. I also think it's great that you do try to help people fill their tags, nothing wrong with sharing the wealth.

But I really was asking a question, does it take more to push a bear out of an area than say a deer or an elk? Don't really have to worry about being 10 miles behind a gate to get away from people? And yes, I am a complete noob when it comes to bear hunting so bear with me  :chuckle:

Ah...I see your question. I don't really know. I'd defer that to Saylean or Billythekidrock.....

In the areas I've been learning I know for a fact I've walked right past bears and had them show up on cam in various locations a short time later. I think they get conditioned to foot traffic and know to stay in the reprod. I've got plenty of game trails to explore and just about all are along the tree line opposite of the road in said reprod. I think they simply chose their own path and don't really give a lick about the folks on bikes or jogging. However....start sneaking through the thicker stuff and I bet you could push them out.

Not sure how much weight this carries... but I've had what seemed to be decent pressure at the "spots" I've been spending my time in... both in the Lk Roesiger area.

The first (the one with the momma bear and cubs that I abandonded), had fresh bear sign at the same time horseback riders and quad riders were blowing through the area.

The second (the one with the bobcat) had fresh sign through the time I've caught multiple rigs driving through on trailcam.

In both cases, the bear seemed to stick around afterwards.

No bear.  Found a set of tracks in mud from the last rain and a fresh peel (perhaps same as above).  I did have a 1 year old with me (it was either that or don't go out). He was quite if we kept walking, but as soon as we stopped he started making noise.

We did find some pink flamingos though.

How long were you out today, and what areas did you hunt?

I made it out this morning (Saturday) early, (Turner knows where I was  :chuckle: ), hunted in and then settled down and tried calling for about 45 minutes, didn't get anything to come in.  Put some miles on my truck looking around the area.

My son and I are going to try to hit it Sunday afternoon for the evening hunt.  Enjoying the spring hunt, just need to put a bear down!

Here is the fresh peel. It was right off the main road. I noticed it then took a minute to stomp down some of the brush to make it more noticeable from the road. Wapati's buddy said he went back in the timer a bit and there were quite a few more peeled just like this.

Plank....tried to reply to your PM but with the forum being funny it didn't go through. Did you see a water bottle by chance. The wife realized she dropped on back in there. Either way. If you found my flamingos I've got you on cam. I'm trying to bring the deer into there a bit more often for fall bow hunting. I've got the food plot about a foot high now and it has really taken off. I replanted/seeded the patch that is all chewed up and another spot past the tree with my cam is on. Hopefully the critters will leave it alone and give the seed and oats a chance to spout in another couple weeks or so.

Did you explore more of that section? Did you check out "the bowl" further in and to the left? Some cool area back in there. If you want another nice walk just keep going on the main line, over the bridge, park and walk down that old spur on the right. That is where I shot my bear. It goes down a ways then curves to the left. Some good hunting back in there.

Keep at it and good luck guys.

Hmmm....having trouble including the attachment....silly forum issues.

Saw the water bottle, it's on the ground about half way back in on the way back there. I thought twice about BA'ing what I'm sure was a cam back in there, but didn't. I'm sure you got a good pic of my 1 year old little hunter leading the way down that trail and me taking pics of the flamingos. Could you send me any pics of us you get when you check your cam.

Funny, I had no idea you guys went down that way, after I saw you at the gate I went up to the top of the big hill to scope the area out. I only headed over that way because there were a clump of dead trees in the middle of that stand behind the gravel pit.

Don't worry bout your spot, I'll promptly forget it :).
