I would agree about the shear size and toughness of a moose neck in the rut. I just spent 9 hours friday helping take care of my sister-in-laws Huckleberry bull. 10x12 with quad brow tines on both sides and 45 inches of spread. A true giant. It was definatley the herd bull. The size of the neck and thickness of the hide while I was caping it absolutley amazed me. After seeing that I doubt I would ever try shooting a bull moose in the neck with anything less than a .340 wby with superior bullets. In fact I don't think I would attempt that shot with any caliber.

Good deal. If it wasn't for you today I wouldn't have seen any of these. Thanks. I was about to grouch out and kill something.

Nice bull Richard! You either worked much harder at getting all of the meat scrap or your bull was just plain bigger bodied as I got 433# of meat (bone in the legs too). Still lots of great meat. bc

Ridgerunner, thanks for posting the picture. I'll get one to you of my game cart hooked to my bike. As far as the meat, I took all the rib and neck meat + the heart. I couldn't believe how big the T-Loins (The loins inside) were on him
One side was the size of 4 deer
He was tough, he took those 3 rounds like it was nothing.
